Open Auditions
A community theatre runs on volunteers. If you want to be on stage or work behind the scenes, let us know. No experience necessary - just interest and enthusiasm.
Auditions for 2010:
Fair Based Productions will hold auditions for its 24th annual Platte County Fair Production “The Diligent Daughter or lips that touch wine” by Jerry James on May 23 and 24.
Roles are available for 3 adult men, 3 adult women, and extras.
The story revolves around Nellie and Naomi Nice who are in search of their father who has disappeared. He must be found before midnight so they can claim their family inheritance from poor, departed Aunt Hester's estate. But, if they fail, the entire estate goes to the Bilious Brewery. Little do they realize that their father's downfall has been caused by their false friend and family lawyer, Alfred Avarice, who secretly owns the Bilious Brewery. In addition to their other problems, Nellie Nice must care for her sister, Naomi, who has been struck blind by grief at the loss of her father. The search for their father leads them to the Tippler Athletic Emporium, a saloon, which is invaded by the Temperance Ladies during their quest. With the aid of Peter Princely, they find their father and manage to sign the papers before midnight. The villain is foiled, Peter and Nellie fall in love and Naomi miraculously regains her sight and joins the Temperance Ladies. The play may include several optional songs with lots of opportunities for "extras" to join in the fun.
FBP was first chosen by the Fair to produce Old West Melodramas in 1987, and has been brought back every year since.
Auditions will be held at The Pavilion, on the Platte County Fairgrounds, Sunday May 23 @ 2:00pm and Monday May 24 @ 7:00pm.
Performances of “The Diligent Daughter” will be during The Platte County Fair July 21 – 24, each night at 7:00pm on the Pavilion Stage.

It's A Wonderful Life
Some notes about auditions: we hold auditions two days to accommodate
varying schedules; you only need to attend one, not both. They are open
to the public and everyone reads cold; if there is a part you are
particularly interested in, let us know so that you'll have the chance
to read for it. We ask you to fill out a calendar with your conflicts at
the time of auditions, we use this to build the rehearsal schedule
around the actors as much as possible. We also ask that you notify us if
you will not be available for all performances. None of these conflicts
will keep you from being cast, it just lets us know what we're working
with and we do sometimes double-cast roles when we can.
